OTOFIX D1 Lite Review: Scotty Kilmer’s Take on Autel’s Budget Scanner

Hey folks, Scotty here. I just got my hands on the OTOFIX D1 Lite OBD2 Scanner – and let me tell you, this little scanner is a hidden gem. It’s cheap, but it does way more than you’d expect for the price.

Now, if you’ve seen my videos, you know I usually rely on my high-end Autel Maxisys Ultra. It’s a beast – but it also costs around $5,000. As a pro mechanic, that’s a necessary investment. But for most people? That’s just too much.

Enter the OTOFIX D1 Lite. It’s made by Autel, and it shares a lot of the same software and functionality as my expensive tool – but it only costs $399(Buy only €299 at AutelShop.de). Yeah, you heard that right.

So what can it do?
It connects easily with a small dongle, reads your VIN automatically, and scans all the systems in your car – engine, transmission, ABS, airbags, tire pressure monitors, you name it. It even lets you run active tests. For example, you can test ABS solenoids, activate the vacuum pump, or check throttle response  all from inside your car.

It also walks you through special functions like bleeding brakes or resetting oil levels. And if you’re buying a used car, it can read mileage from different modules to make sure no ones tampered with the odometer.

Now, it’s not for electric vehicles – you’ll still need the pro gear for that. But for regular gas or hybrid cars, this thing is a powerhouse. It supports enhanced diagnostics for tons of brands and does everything you’d need without the crazy price tag.

So if you’re serious about working on your own car, the OTOFIX D1 Lite is a solid pick. For $399, it’s hard to beat.

Give it a look – and let me know what you think!
